Week 2

Week 2 is in the books and this season has started much like the previous season ended, with 2 clear favorites and a whole bunch of mediocre, followed by Abel.  It doesn't look like we're going to have any worst-to-first comeback stories this year in the league and a lot of the same guys will be left out of the playoffs.  But with 4 teams starting 2-0 and 4 going 0-2, the bottom half had better figure out something soon or it might be a mountain too tough to scale.  But no matter what, at least football is back in our lives and we can finally start ignoring our families and daily responsibilities again.  Makes me feel...

1. If We're Using Logic - Chris is still the king until someone rises up and knocks him off.  He's scored the most points and looks to have the roster ready to defend his title.  Gronk is almost guaranteed to score 20+ every week, his WRs are all above average and his QBs are consistent enough.  The only weak spot is RB depth as he may not have anyone to replace McCoy with if he actually gets hurt.  But it's going to take more than that to derail his march to the top playoff seed.  Luckily, CNK has a sleeper agent hidden within his roster and Chris will never know when he'll strike at the wrong time...

2. F It Three - Southy would never tell any of us this but clearly this is the other really good team in CNK.  His front-line team is good enough to compete with Chris and this team is probably more well-rounded.  It's a good thing he gets Le'Veon Bell back this week since Lacy could be out for a while.  If nothing else, South can always count on luck (and Luck) to carry his team to victories (see Week 2 margin over Kyle).  If Big Ben keeps hitting Brown for garbage TDs in each game, this is going to be a tough team to beat.

3. Smells Low - What a surprise!  Riley's in 3rd place again.  The Burkelton Retirement Community has finished 3rd in each of the first 2 seasons and is right on track again to be just decent enough to not win.  Brady to Edelman could keep this team alive since it's only a matter of time before skinny-legs, high-voiced Peyton Manning crumples into a pile of robotic pieces.  The Broncos can't play against Andy Reid every week.  Since Riley is 2-0, it is a bit of a surprise he's put everyone up for sale in an attempt to get younger.  However, I'm not even sure Lehman's telemarketing skills could spin this firesale into gold.

4. Rollin' 4 Deep - Honestly Finken shouldn't be this high since he scored the second fewest points in Week 1 and just snuck by Mitch in Week 2.  At some point it will catch up with him but right now, 2-0 is 2-0.  Brees has looked older than Peyton so far and could be hurt for some time.  Also, the Cowboys using 16 RBs hasn't helped him see any value out of stashing Joseph Randle last year.  If he doesn't find a way to start scoring some more points, he's going to find himself out of the playoffs for the 3rd straight year.

5. Ah It's Early - Seth has been dealt a rough hand so far this year.  He played the clear best two teams in the league and also lost Jordy, Dez, Romo and now potentially Tevin Coleman.  Luckily he gets Abel and Kyle over the next 2 weeks as he tries not to let the season completely get away from him.  Hopefully all those guys will be back for the fantasy (consolation, in this case) playoffs so Seth can compete for the #1 pick that he already traded to Finken.

Wonderful, the Raiders and Seth's team...ugh.

6. Off Suit 10s - Well, not even having 5 active QBs on his roster (CHEATER!!!) could help Kyle get over the hump.  It's interesting that Kyle made 9 roster moves this past week and none of them were to drop 1 of his QBs.  Some of it may have been that he was so focused on spending all of his FAAB money in the first week that he was blinded to his roster responsibilities.  Or maybe he couldn't quite make out the players names and positions in between all of the red Os, Qs and IRs next to those players names.  With the #1 team coming to town this week, at least things are good in Hawkeye land for Kyle as the outlook doesn't look much better.

7. Play It Backwards - So far, Mitch's roster management has looked a lot like the Eagles offense.  Each week he's left his biggest scorers on the bench while his starters have underwhelmed.  First week it was Megatron and Agholor, the next it was Hill, Bradford and Graham.  He had better settle on a roster quickly since the top 2 teams are on the schedule next.  And if there's one thing you don't want, it's Lazer and South sneaking up on your backdoor.

When Chris tells us he got a minivan, this is what he means.

8. I'm Out - Oh Abel, where do we begin?  First you could've kept your boy David Cobb using the IR spot without dropping him.  Then you left Alshon in your lineup when he was ruled out pretty early on Sunday.  Next you started Smokin Jay Cutler over the golden boy Mariota each of the first 2 weeks.  And do you realize you still have Ray Rice and RG3 on your roster?  I don't think a scout team safety is going to do much for your fantasy team.
